Missions asked to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth centenary, golden jubilee of independence


Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen today directed all Bangladesh missions abroad to chalk out two-year programmes to celebrate Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of the country’s independence.

The foreign minister sent letters to all heads of the missions in this regard, an official press release said.

Momen suggested the missions to organize meetings, seminars, exhibitions and fairs to celebrate the two mega occasions.

The nation will celebrate the 100-year birth anniversary of the Greatest Bangalee of all time Bangabandhu in 2020 and golden jubilee of the independence after one year in 2021.

In the letter, the minister said the government has decided to celebrate the occasions abroad considering high respect and huge interest worldwide towards morals and dreams of Bangabandhu, the architect of the nation.
