Corona negative certificate must for outbound Bangladeshi travellers

The government on Sunday decided that all outbound Bangladeshi travellers must submit Covid-19 negative certificate.

The certificate will be issued by the government-authorised Covid-19 testing centres.

The government took the decision in an inter-ministerial meeting presided over by Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.

The decision came in the wake of recent developments in which a number of countries imposed a temporary ban on flights from Bangladesh.

The ban was imposed after several passengers from Bangladesh were found Covid-19 positive after their arrival in those countries.

The inter-ministerial meeting also decided to set up a designated Covid-19 test centre for overseas travellers from Bangladesh.

Expatriate welfare ministry will supervise it and the certificate will be posted in the website of the concerned department, the meeting decided.

Health Minister Zahed Makeque, Expatriate Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Dr Masud Bin Momen, Aviation Secretary Muhibul Haque, and Expatriate Welfare Ministry Secretary Ahmed Munirus Salehin, among others, were present in the meeting.
