All buses on Mirpur route switch to e-ticketing

Buses of 30 companies plying Dhaka's Mirpur route started operation under e-ticketing from Sunday morning to stop charging of extra fares.

Under the system, passengers will have to pay for tickets by machines inside buses as per rates fixed by the government instead of the current system of paying fares manually without any tickets.

The machines will be kept inside buses and a contractor will be inside each bus along with the driver and his assistant to operate the machine.

Earlier in September, the e-ticketing system was introduced in eight buses in the capital on a trial basis.

As per the transport owners, buses under 97 companies operate in Dhaka and its adjacent districts.

Out of these companies, 60 companies will come under the e-ticketing system by next January and by next February all companies will introduce the system.
