Adani starts supplying electricity

Adani Group has initially started supplying around 50MW of electricity to Bangladesh from the controversial 800MW Unit-1 of Adani Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant (USCTPP) in Jharkhand via Baharampur, India and Chapainawabganj.

“The Unit-1 of Jharkhand Adani Power Plant started experimental synchronising with Bangladesh gridline at 7:38 pm on Thursday. The electricity was connected with the gridline in Bogura from Monakora via Baharampur through Chapainawabganj,” Mir Mohammed Aslam Uddin, deputy chief information officer of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, said.

Initially, Bangladesh received 50MW of electricity from Adani at 9:00 pm, said Aslam, also spokesperson for the ministry.

Both sides installed 246km transmission line to transmit 1600MW of electricity from Jharkhand Power plant.

Of the total, Bangladesh has installed 134 km dedicated transmission line to import the electricity and the remaining one was installed by Adani Power Limited.

Bangladesh and Adani Power Ltd signed the Implementation Agreement (IA) in 2017.

The PGCB installed interim substation at Baharampur with a capacity of 520MVA at 400/132kv gridline to supply the back feed power.
