Cent percent Eid advance train tickets to be sold online

In a bid to ease public sufferings at counters of railway stations, the authorities of Bangladesh Railway (BR) decided to sell all Eid advance train tickets online.

The state-owned organisation will start selling advance tickets from April 7. Also, the organisation will operate 10 pairs of Eid special trains.  

The decision was taken at a meeting on ‘Conducting train on Eid-ul-Fitr’ on Wednesday in the capital with Rail Minister Nurul Islam Sujan in the chair.

Railway sources said the rail minister will disclose details regarding the timing of ticket sale and the issue of selling online ticket tomorrow.  

Officials of the railway said if the process of selling online ticket is implemented successfully then there might be a decision of selling cent percent tickets online from next  May 1.  

Meeting sources said the trains of Eid will be operated calculating Eid on April 22 as a probable date.

Tickets of April 17 will be sold on April 7. At the same order, tickets of April 18, 19, 20 and 21 will be sold on April 8, 9, 10 and 11 respectively.

All the tickets of Eid-ul-Fitr will be sold online. Only standing tickets will be issued from counters.
