Get knowledge about science and tech: PM Hasina urges youth

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked the youth to be equipped with knowledge, technology, and science to successfully face the challenges of the future and build a better Bangladesh in the spirit of the 1971 liberation war.

“This era is the era of technology, science, and knowledge. Without achieving knowledge it would not be possible for a person to prepare for the future and the country,” she said.

The prime minister said this while distributing prizes among the winners of a nationwide video competition titled ‘Bangabandhu in My Eyes’ held at her official residence Ganabhaban.

She also asked the youth to take lessons from history to be better prepared for the future.

Hasina expressed the hope that the new generation will take the the country towards prosperity.

“We have to take lessons from history, we have to find our own path for the coming future to advance along with the other countries. You have to prepare yourselves that way,” she said.

She put highest emphasis on education for building a nation and taking it towards prosperity.

“And without education, it is not possible at all. Without education, it is not possible to eradicate poverty. Education is the biggest achievement for a person,” she said.

The PM urged the young people to get ready to lead the country.

“You have to get ready, the spirit of the liberation war must be upheld. You have to build Bangladesh free from hunger, poverty, and prosperity,” she said.

In this connection, she firmly said that Bangladesh will not yield to anyone.

“We will go with our own dignity. We all have to keep that in mind always,” she said.

Pointing to the distortion of Bangladesh's history after the assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hasina said that the real history has emerged now following corrective measures.

The prime minister called upon all to remain alert so none could push the country backward and make it again the country of beggars.

"None can pull us back. We always have to be alert. We have to march the country ahead," she said.

Earlier, the prime minister distributed certificates, crests and award money among the winners.
