Ad-din hospital fined Tk3 lakh for irregularities, hygiene lapses
A mobile court in Dhaka fined the authorities of Ad-din Medical College Hospital Tk3 lakh after detecting irregularities and poor hygiene at the facility during a drive on Sunday.
Dhaka South City Corporation Executive Magistrate Md Aminul Islam led the drive this afternoon, according to a press release.
During the inspection, the mobile court found several violations, including unlabelled frozen stale sweets stored in the canteen refrigerator, unhygienic conditions in the kitchen, insufficient ventilation and lighting in wards, and the absence of temperature monitoring devices in refrigerators.
For these violations, the hospital authorities were fined a total of Tk3 lakh—Tk1 lakh under the Consumers’ Rights Protection Act and Tk2 lakh under the Food Safety Act. The amount was realised on the spot.
The authorities were also warned and instructed to improve overall hygiene standards, ensure adequate ventilation and lighting, install temperature monitoring devices in refrigerators, upgrade canteen services, and relocate the bakery operating within the premises.
The mobile court also conducted a separate drive at Monowara Hospital on Bailey Road.
During the inspection, the overall management of the hospital was reviewed, and the authorities were given necessary instructions for improvement.
