Will die but won’t leave streets: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said the party leaders and activists will not leave the streets even if they die.

“This is another Liberation War of Bangladesh. We can win it if we can stay united,” he said at a press conference at the party’s central office on 23 Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka this evening.

In response to a question about the pressure centring the BNP’s 28 October rally, Quader said, “We are not under any pressure, but we cannot forget the old days.

“We cannot forget the arson attacks of 2013-14. They always try to commit arson attacks on people. It is a matter of observation if they really want peace from their hearts,” he added.

Meanwhile, ruling Awami League and opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have received conditional permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold their rallies in the capital on Saturday.

Confirming the matter on Friday night, DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Kha Mohid Uddin said that Awami League will hold its rally in the south plaza of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, while BNP in front of its central office at Nayapaltan.
