Ibrahim-led Jukto Front to join general election

A new political alliance named “Jukto Front,” led by Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman of the Bangladesh Kalyan Party, which is now in simultaneous movement with the BNP, will participate in the upcoming national election slated for January 7.

Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, also chief of the alliance, will address a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital at 11 am on Wednesday to declare their position.

This information was disclosed by a press release signed by Kalyan Party additional secretary general Abdullah Al Hassan Sakib.

When an attempt was made to contact Syed Muhammad Ibrahim over the phone, he didn’t receive the call.

The release said Ibrahim, chief of the Jukto Front, will hold a press conference about the 12th parliamentary election.

Sakib said the Jukto Front is formed with six political parties, including the Kalyan Party, Muslim League, Jatiya Party (Matin), and Jagpa (Jatiya Ganatantrik Party).

“We will participate in the upcoming 12th parliamentary election,” he added.

The Kalyan Party was a component of the BNP-led alliance and later was involved in the simultaneous movement of the BNP as a component of the 12-party alliance.
