BNP's blockade on Dec 6, 7; human chain on Dec 10

BNP will observe nationwide blockade programme on December 6 and 7 and will form human chain on December 10, to realise their demand for holding the 12th parliamentary election under a nonparty caretaker government.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement in a virtual press conference on Monday afternoon.

The nationwide 48-hour blockade programme will continue from 6:00 am on Wednesday to 6:00 am on Friday, he said.

Besides, marking the international human rights day, BNP leaders, activists, and the family members of those who have been victims of enforced disappearance will organize human chains at all district headquarters across the country on December 10, he said.

Sporadic clashes took place between BNP men and law enforcers centering a public rally held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on 28 October.

At one stage, the BNP men were forced to leave the rally venue in the face of the clash and later the party called the hartal of 29 October to meet its one-point demand for ouster of the government.

Since then, the party has been observing hartals and blockade programmes every week, giving a break on Friday and Saturday considering the days as government holidays.
