Dr. Faiz at the center of discussion in Sylhet-3

BNP politics has gained new momentum in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Sylhet-3 (South Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj partially) constituency.

District BNP President Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury had been exerting a single influence in the field for a long time. In addition, two familiar faces of BNP's expatriate politics—Central International Affairs Secretary Md. Abdus Salam and UK BNP President and Chairperson's Advisor MA Malek are also active in the nomination race.

But recently, expatriate academician, social worker and internationally recognized leader Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE has added a new dimension to the discussion. Due to his honesty, competence, talent and experience, Dr. Faiz has now emerged as an important figure in local politics.

These four BNP leaders are interested in contesting as BNP party candidates in the upcoming national elections from Sylhet-3 (South Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj) constituency. For this reason, they and their workers and supporters are continuing their activities in the constituency. Almost every day, their workers and supporters are expressing their position by organizing various programs and meetings.

Local BNP leaders and activists say that like in the past few parliamentary elections, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and Abdus Salam sought party nomination in the last 11th national elections. However, in 2018, former MP and then BNP central committee member Shafi Ahmed Chowdhury got the party nomination here. In 2021, Shafi Ahmed was expelled from BNP for running in the by-elections, ignoring the party's decision. In this situation, other BNP nomination aspirants have increased their efforts to replace Shafi.

A symbol of honesty and competence, Dr. Fayez Uddin's life and career have set him apart from other candidates. In his personal life, he is well known as humble, honest, loyal and trustworthy. He has no controversial role in the political arena. Rather, he has been working for a long time in social service, education, protecting human rights and protecting the interests of expatriate Bangladeshis.

Political analysts say that what BNP needs most at present is a candidate with a clean image. In this position, Dr. Faiz Uddin MBE is undoubtedly ahead. He is the only alternative.

Four decades of experience
He has worked at the local, national and international levels for over 40 years. His experience in project planning, implementation, community development, human rights and equality is unparalleled. He has successfully led in various fields including social cohesion, anti-racial work, and educational development.

His strong family background and dynamic leadership qualities have given him a distinct position in local politics. Trinamool activists say that bringing forward such an experienced and honest leader will give people more confidence in the BNP.

International recognition and communication
Even while living abroad, he never strayed far from the country's politics. He has always been active on issues of democracy, human rights, and justice in Bangladesh in various international forums, including the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United Nations.

His role in protecting Bangladesh's interests in the UK Parliament and the European Parliament was important. His acceptance and contacts in the international arena could be a great asset for the BNP.

Supporters believe that this strong international connection will play an effective role in democracy and development in Bangladesh in the future.

Contribution to the anti-dictatorship movement
Even during difficult times in Bangladesh's history, Dr. Faiz Uddin has stood by the party and the democratic movement. His strong stance has been praised, especially during the anti-dictatorship movement.

He has proven that he did not just do politics while living abroad, but rather that his commitment to Bangladesh's democracy was sincere.

New possibilities in public relations
Although he is relatively behind at the local field level, his supporters are gradually organizing around him. His name is being mentioned positively through various meetings and initiatives of grassroots workers.

A section of local voters feel, "We want change, we want clean leadership. Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE can be the symbol of that change. Already, his humble behavior, elegant language, honesty, skills, international contacts and long experience have set him apart from others. We want to see such a leader in parliament."

New horizons for BNP
According to political observers, if BNP really wants a candidate who is acceptable to a new generation, has a clean image and is internationally recognized. Then Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE could be the most suitable face. His integrity, skills, international exposure and long experience have set him apart from others.

Sylhet-3 constituency has always been important in the country's politics. This time too, there are various discussions going on about BNP's nomination for this constituency. Although local leaders, expatriate leaders - everyone is in the running, currently Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE is at the center of the discussion.

From grassroots to the international arena, his clean image and leadership recognition have set Dr. Faiz apart from others. If he gets nominated in the upcoming national elections, he can become a symbol of positive change not only in Sylhet-3 constituency, but also in BNP politics across the country.

Dr. Mohammad Faiz Uddin MBE, while talking to this reporter on the phone, said, "The party's decision is my decision. If the party nominates me, I will work for the betterment of the people at all levels of Sylhet-3 constituency, God willing."
