Soumya finally shines with bat

FT ONLINE

After a series of poor scores with the bat in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), opening batsman Soumya Sarkar finally got back his form as he scored 154 runs against Brothers Union in the fate deciding relegation league on Wednesday.

The southpaw opener, who opened the innings for Agrani, found his rhythm as he smashed nine fours and 11 sixes on his way to impressive 127-ball 154 to help Agrani Bank post a daunting total of 334 runs on the board at BKSP in Savar.

Soumya's knock is also the highest individual score in this season's premier cricket league.

He shared an important 171-run fifth-wicket partnership with Indian batsman Rishi Dhawan who provided an ample support to him by scoring unbeaten 65-ball 80 with nine boundaries and a six.

Agrani Bank and Brothers both have 10 points each. The winner will survive while the loser will get relegated along with Kalabagan Krira Chakra, which achieved only four points.
