Bangladesh reports seven more coronavirus deaths, 414 new cases

Seven more people died of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Thursday, raising the tally to 127.

Meanwhile, 414 others were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the same period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 4,186, health and family welfare minister Zahid Maleque disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily health bulletin.

Besides, 16 new patients made recovery in the past 24 hours, raising the tally of recovered patients to 108.

Among the dead, five were male and two female, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General (Administration) of Health Services (DGHS).

Earlier on Wednesday, ten more people died and 390 people tested positive for the highly infectious disease.

Coronavirus, first reported in China, has so far infected 2,647,349 people globally and killed 184,386 of them, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.

Of the infected, 1,739,088 are currently being treated while 58,229 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.

As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
