BD reports 34 more deaths, 1,973 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 34 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Sunday.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 3,941, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 1,973 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 2,98,598.

Health authorities reported that another 3,524 people have recovered from the disease in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 179,091.

In the last 24 hours, 91 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 10,801 samples.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 18.27 percent tested positive, while 20.42 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.

Among the total infections, 60.79 percent patients have recovered, while 1.34 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
