Aviation sector growth will triple in next 15 years: State minister

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said the growth of Bangladesh's aviation sector will triple in the next 15 years.

He said the country's aviation industry is growing rapidly under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

By 2017, Bangladesh's aviation market has almost doubled, and passenger and cargo transportation has grown at a rate of about 10 per cent over the past 10 years, said a press release on Thursday.

If this potential for huge growth in the aviation sector can be harnessed, it will lead to huge employment opportunities as well as improve the socio-economic condition of the country, read the release.

The minister said this while addressing a function organised at Jashore Airport on the occasion of the inauguration of direct flights of US Bangla Airlines on Jashore-Chattogram and Jashore-Cox's Bazar routes.

Later, the state minister inaugurated a direct flight of US Bangla Airlines on Syedpur-Chattogram route at another separate function at Syedpur Airport.
