Citi holds airline treasury forum in Bangladesh

Citink, N.A., Bangladesh recently hosted representatives from IATA (International Air Transport Association), executives from leading airlines, experts from the Bangladesh aviation industry and senior officials from Bangladesh Bank to discuss contemporary airline banking processes at the “Bangladesh Airline Treasury Forum, Breakthrough to Excellence”.

Citi also presented its range of digital payment solutions with a focus on increasing efficiency at a time when aviation expenses are on the raise, said a statement.

The forum included multiple sessions on macroeconomic trends in Bangladesh as well as the efficacy of Citi’s digital payment solutions which mirrored the changes in the country’s clearing and payment landscape. The presentations were followed by discussions amongst members of the airline industry and regulators.

While giving his welcome note, N. Rajashekaran,Managing Director and Citi Country Officer, Bangladesh stressed on the importance and relevance of the aviation sector supporting the growth of the country’s economy.

He added “as the leading global bank in Bangladesh, Citi is committed to bringing its range of innovative payment solutions that will enable the aviation industry to grow efficiently”.

Vincent Couche, Citi’s Asia Pacific Sector Head for Industrials provided insights on Citi’s innovation journey to help clients navigate global markets and tap into the benefits of digitisation. He mentioned “With price of jet fuel and payroll costs going up, airlines have a strategic imperative to maximise the benefits of digitisation and Citi is ready to support every partner airline on this challenging journey”.

“Citi is an important partner for airlines globally. The engagement has allowed Citi to present its experience and knowledge of managing and moving money efficiently for the aviation industry in Bangladesh”, said Md. Moinul Huq, Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions, Citibank, N.A., Bangladesh.

Apart from building innovative payment and collection solutions for its airlines clients, Citi is an important player in all key aircraft financing markets with its spectrum of financing solutions. It won the Aviation Finance House of the year 2017 by Airfinance Journal for making the biggest contribution to the industry over the year. 

Citi was involved in $65 billion worth of aviation sector transactions over the course of 2017.
