Bangladesh to participate in Kolkata trade expo


Bangladesh will participate at the Bengal Global Trade Expo in Kolkata this month.

Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association (CWBTA) is organing the international exposition at Science City in Kolkata from April 20-24, organisers told a press briefing in Dhaka on Sunday.

India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (IBCCI), a partner of the expo, organised the press conference at Nitol Niloy Centre in capital’s Mohakhali.

CWBTA Chairman Bimal Bengani, IBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad, and Secretary General Abul Kalam Azad were present on the occasion.

Businesses from 12 countries will participate in the global expo while a delegation from Bangladesh will participate in the international expo. The members of the delegation will be finalised by April 10, officials informed.

Nitol Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad said the Kolkata trade expo is a great platform for Bangladeshi businesses to showcase products and services to international buyers.

“From manufacturers to traders to visitors, everyone can participate in the fair to learn and share knowledge on business affairs. The businesses can get new idea through sharing information,” he said.

The expo will provide platforms to business for showcasing the wide spread of products including automobile, technology, electronics, real estate, chemicals, plastics, furniture, food processing, leather and textiles.

IBCCI is a bilateral chamber to boost trade between Bangladesh and India to connect business communications of both countries.
