RU forms RUCSU election commission

Rajshahi University (RU) administration has formed an election commission to conduct the long-awaited Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) election and the student representative elections to the Senate for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The decision was made at the university’s 538th syndicate meeting held on Tuesday (15 April).

Alongside this, the syndicate also approved the amended RUCSU constitution.

According to a press release signed by Prof Md Akhtar Hossain Majumder, Administrator of the Public Relations Office, on Wednesday (16 April), Prof Dr Md Amzad Hossain of the Finance Department has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner.

The commission includes Syndicate member Professor Md Nizam Uddin, Acting College Inspector Professor F Nazrul Islam, Director of the Mental Health Centre Professor Md Enamul Haque, Law Department’s Professor Mohammad Abdul Hannan, Statistics Department’s Professor Md Aminul Haque, and Professor Mostafa Kamal Akand of the Anthropology Department.

As per the election roadmap, the RUCSU polls are expected to be held between the third and fourth weeks of June this year.
