PSC chairman resigns
Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Md Sohorab Hossain resigned from his position on Tuesday.
Sohorab Hossain submitted his resignation letter to the PSC secretary this afternoon, Public Relations Officer SM Matiur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Daily Sun.
Twelve members of the commission also submitted their resignation letters while two others have yet to resign, he added.
Sohorab joined as the PSC chairman on 21 September 2020.
The members who resigned are – Faiz Ahmed, ON Siddiqa Khanam, Prof Uttam Kumar Saha, Zahid ur Rashid, Prof Mubina Khondkar, Prof Delwar Hossain, KM Ali Azam, Md Maksudur Rahman Patwari, Md Khalilur Rahman, Nazmanara Khanum, Prof Syed Md Golam Faruk, and Prof Pradip Kumar Panday.
This resignation follows comments made by Sarjis Alam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, regarding the need for PSC reforms.
PSC members Md Shafiqul Islam and Helaluddin Ahmad have not submitted their resignation letters.
