RNPP's first unit construction completed

Russian company Rosatom on Wednesday said it has completed all the construction works for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1.

With the announcement, the country’s first nuclear power plant in Pabna is only one step away from beginning commercial operations.

The plant has another unit, which is undergoing physical implementation works.

On Wednesday, trials began of the nuclear reactor and cooling equipment of Unit-1, paving way for the UN nuclear watchdog to issue clearance.

Last week, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed aired hopes the plant’s first unit would go online by March next year.
