No explosive material found after second hoax threat in a day
Dhaka airport law enforcers on Wednesday received a second phone call warning of presence of explosive materials, but extensive searches again proved the threat a hoax.
At 11pm Wednesday night, the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) received a call from a Malaysian Whatsapp number concerning the bomb threat, but after searching for hours authorities had to call off the futile efforts at 2.30am.
HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam confirmed no threat was found in an exchange with reporters.
Earlier, on Wednesday morning, a similar threat was made using a Pakistani Whatsapp number. From the other side, it was claimed that a flight from Rome was carrying around 35-kilogram explosives, which would detonate on arrival of the plane at HSIA.
However, nothing was found on the plane or from the passengers.
