UN chief to visit Bangladesh on 13-16 March


UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is set to visit Bangladesh during 13-16 March on the invitation of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, the UN chief’s office confirmed Wednesday.

On 7 February, Khalilur Rahman, special representative of the chief adviser on the issues of Rohingyas and other priorities, handed the invitation letter on behalf of the Nobel Laureate in a meeting with Guterres.

Furthermore, at the request of Prof Yunus, a UN conference on the Rohingya refugee crisis is scheduled to be held in the second half of the year in Doha, Qatar.

Mentionable, the upcoming visit to Bangladesh would be Guterres’s second since taking office. He first visited the country in 2018.
