Transshipment facility stopped due to some incidents in neighbouring country: India's MoFA
India has made it clear that there are some incidents in the neighbouring country behind stopping the facility of exporting Bangladeshi goods to third countries through transshipment using Indian land ports.
Responding to a question at the weekly briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, the ministry spokesman said that some incidents before the decision need to be examined. Then the picture will be full and clear, according to local media.
The spokesperson, however, did not say what "facts" needed to be looked into.
According to Indian government sources, in March, Bangladesh's commerce ministry recommended a ban on yarn import through land ports. The reason was cited as infrastructure problems.
However, the decision was implemented after India stopped exporting Bangladeshi goods to third countries through its land ports. Within days of that decision, Bangladesh implemented the decision taken in March.
