Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association provides treatment to sick horses in CXB
"Let the country be a safe haven for all living beings"— with this slogan in focus, the Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) has distributed balanced feed and provided medical treatment to sick horses in Cox’s Bazar.
Under the direction of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the association extended its humanitarian activities to support horses and other starving animals in the Cox’s Bazar region.
Tarique Rahman is the chief patron of this animal welfare organization, which has been working nationwide for the protection and care of animals.
On Thursday (October 23, 2025), a team from the association conducted a special program across Kolatoli Beach and surrounding coastal areas, distributing balanced feed to horses and providing treatment to those suffering from various illnesses.
The initiative was led by Atiqur Rahman Ruman, Chief Coordinator of Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association and member of the BNP Media Cell.
As part of its continuous welfare activities—such as rescuing injured animals, offering medical treatment, distributing food, and conducting vaccination campaigns against rabies—BAWA has recently expanded its operations to St. Martin’s Island and Cox’s Bazar.
A dedicated veterinary medical team, comprising Dr. Atiqur Rahman Mithu (Curator, National Zoo), Dr. Sakhawat Hossain (Livestock Extension Officer), and Dr. Mahbubur Rahman (Veterinary Surgeon), provided medical care to nearly 50 sick horses in Cox’s Bazar.
Additionally, the association announced that it will continue its efforts to treat and feed abandoned and ill horses on Friday and Saturday (October 24–25, 2025). A team of specialist veterinarians will also take part in these extended operations.
Adnan Azad, Convener of the Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association, said the initial phase of this program will run for one week but may be expanded with government approval.
During the feeding and treatment activities at Kolatoli and other beach areas, several key members of the association were present, including Adnan Azad, Imran Rashed Simanto Sarkar, Taufiq Situ, Shubhbroto Sarkar, Mizanur Rahman Tasib, and Faisal Bin Azam. Others present were Mohiuddin Mahin, Shamim Mia, Mohammad Farid, and Moshiur Rahman Mohan.
Earlier, on Wednesday (October 22, 2025), the Bangladesh Animal Welfare Association conducted a similar initiative on St. Martin’s Island, distributing balanced food to stray and starving dogs.
The program was implemented with utmost care to protect the environment. Members of the organization expressed hope that this initiative will inspire the people of Bangladesh to show greater compassion and responsibility toward animals.
