Serving partisan interests not this government’s duty: Tarique

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that one of the key responsibilities of the current interim government is to establish a democratic administration accountable to the people through their votes.

“Carrying out the interests of any political party is certainly not the duty of this government,” he said while virtually addressing the “Hindu Representative Council 2025” in Dhaka on Saturday.

Matua Bohujon Samaj Oikya Jote organised the programme at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium this afternoon.

Warning that national instability could pave the way for the rehabilitation of defeated and fugitive fascist forces, Tarique urged the interim government to stay alert to “covert politics”.

The BNP acting chairman called for denying any opportunity to fallen and fugitive evil forces, saying that one of the key strategies to guard against the covert tactics of such forces is to maintain and uphold a national anti-fascist unity.

For this reason, he said, the BNP has continued its approach of cooperation and understanding with the interim government and allies of the anti-fascist movement.

Tarique announced that if the BNP comes to power through the election, it will distribute 50 lakh “family cards” among low-income groups and generate employment for the youth.

He added, “To ensure employment for young people, we have planned to provide them with technical training and key language skills, transforming them into a skilled workforce for work both at home and abroad.”
