‘Hadi suffered two cardiac arrests during surgery’

Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, has been transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to Evercare Hospital.

Prior to the transfer, he underwent surgery at DMCH. The hospital authorities had not officially released any information regarding Hadi’s condition.

However, Dr Zahid Raihan, head of the Neurosurgery Department at DMCH, said, “His condition is extremely critical  ̵ what is understood by the term ‘critical’ applies here.”

He added that even upon arrival at the hospital, Hadi showed signs of life. “During the operation, our anaesthesia specialists confirmed that he still had effort, meaning he had some strength in his own breathing. He is still alive,” Dr Raihan said.

"During the surgery, Hadi experienced two cardiac arrests and suffered massive blood loss. There was bleeding from both the nose and mouth. We cannot comment on hope regarding the patient’s outcome, but he is still alive, and the rest is in Allah’s hands,” he said.

Doctors believe that the bullet entered Hadi’s head from one side and exited through the other.

Dr Raihan explained that although the bullet exited, some fragments remained inside the brain. “It was at the central point of the brain. There is no need to approach it surgically, and such procedures are generally not performed. During the operation, we retrieved some very small fragments and collected them,” he added.
