All the oil is in Parliament, none outside: Leader of the opposition

A heated debate erupted in the National Parliament on Monday between Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed over the ongoing fuel crisis.

While the Home Minister asserted that government statistics show no fuel or gas shortage, the Opposition Leader pointed out the stark difference between official claims and reality, stating, "There is plenty of oil inside the Parliament, but none outside."

He highlighted that the crisis is so severe that even the High Court has had to resort to virtual sessions to save energy. Although the Deputy Speaker initially rejected the adjournment motion, both sides eventually agreed to a special discussion session, potentially lasting between one to one and a half hours, to address the public's grievances.
