Tanjin Tisha’s bail extended in saree fraud case

A Dhaka court on Tuesday extended the bail granted to actress Tanjin Tisha after she surrendered in a case filed against her on charges of fraud and breach of trust over a saree worth around Tk28,000.

The court also deferred the date for the hearing on charge framing in the case following a petition filed by the defence counsel.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin passed the orders, said Tanjin Tisha’s lawyer Nihar Hossain Faruk.

Earlier, on 13 August, Tisha surrendered before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana and secured bail in the case.

Prior to this, the court had issued a summons on 12 July, asking her to appear before it.

According to the case documents, Tisha allegedly took a saree worth Tk28,800 from an online fashion page and promised to promote the product and pay its price. However, she later allegedly stopped communicating with the page authorities.

Aminul Islam, administrator of the online fashion page, filed the case against Tisha with the court, accusing her of fraud and breach of trust in 2025.

The court then recorded the complainant’s statement and directed the Detective Branch (DB) of police to investigate the allegation and submit a report.

Following the investigation, police submitted a report saying that they had found preliminary evidence supporting the allegations against Tisha. The court subsequently took cognisance of the report and issued the summons.
