ACC probes 801 recruitments at Rupali Bank

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a fresh investigation into the 2014 recruitment process of state-owned Rupali Bank.

It has summoned detailed documents including educational certificates of 801 officers and employees recruited that year.

The ACC said that the MCQs, written and oral examination evaluation books and all related records of these employees recruited in various positions, including senior officers and officers, will have to be submitted.

This information was sought in a recent letter sent to the bank's managing director. The letter also said that if any allegations of recruitment through fake or forged certificates have come up in the bank's internal investigation or in the Bangladesh Bank report, copies of them should also be provided.

Not only the documents of the candidates, but also the national identity cards, passport numbers and permanent and current addresses of the managing director, chairman and directors in charge at the time of the 2014 recruitment have been sought.

Copies of the approval of the board of directors for each stage of recruitment and a complete list of the appointees have also been asked to be submitted.

ACC sources said that a two-member investigation team has been formed to look into allegations of irregularities in recruitment, promotion, training and distribution of housing loans. Necessary action will be taken after verifying the documents received.

It is worth noting that M Farid Uddin was the managing director of the bank from 2010 to 2016. In these six years, the highest number of recruitments were completed in the history of the bank.
