Six factories of Ha-Meem Group in Ashulia shut indefinitely

Six garment factories of Ha-Meem Group have been declared closed indefinitely due to ongoing worker unrest in Ashulia of Savar.

The closed factories are– Ethereal Data Sportswear Ltd., Ethereal Gallery Ltd., Rishat Garments Ltd., E-Fashion Wear Ltd., Artistic Design Ltd., and Center Calendar Ltd.

The decision follows disruptions in the operations of workers, officials, and security staff, according to a notice posted at the factory gates on Monday.

The notice cites Article 13 (1) of the Bangladesh Labor Act 2006, which permits factory closures in situations where normal operations cannot be maintained. The suspension of operations will remain in effect until further notice. Workers, officials, and related personnel will be informed of the reopening once conditions are deemed safe.

The area surrounding the closed factories remains under heightened security, with police, RAB, and BGB forces deployed to ensure stability.

Ha-Meem Group officials have stated that the closure was necessary due to continued illegal strikes and the potential for violence despite efforts to meet worker demands. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will notify employees about future developments.
