Singer Noble arrested in women repression case
Controversial singer Mainul Ahsan Noble was arrested on Tuesday morning from Dhaka’s Demra area in connection with a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Talebur Rahman said a team from Demra Police Station detained him in the morning.
In this regard, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Demra Police Station told the media that Nobel was arrested from the Demra staff quarter on Monday night in a case of violence against women. He will be produced in court on Tuesday.
The OC said that any application will not be made to remand Nobel for the time being. A decision will be taken on this matter later.
Earlier, a young woman, Mainul Ahsan, filed a case against Nobel, alleging rape and beating.
Demra Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Murad Hossain told the media, “Recently, a video went viral, where Nobel is seen dragging a young woman down the stairs. Last night, the young woman filed a case against Nobel on charges of rape, pornography and beating. Nobel was arrested after that.”
Incidentally, cases or arrests have become normal for Nobel. The singer has been in the news many times for controversial posts on social media, drug addiction, and wife abuse.
On May 19, 2023, a man named Safayet Islam filed a case against Nobel at Dhaka's Motijheel Police Station for not attending an event with advance money. The next day, the detective police arrested him and took him into one-day custody through the court for questioning. After being taken to court after questioning, Nobel was granted bail.
In 2019, Nobel came into the spotlight by participating in India's Zee-Bangla TV's reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" and came third. However, controversies about him continued to grow in various activities.
On April 26, 2023, during a song performance in Kurigram, the audience, angered by Nobel's inappropriate behavior on stage, threw shoes and water bottles. This disrupted the cultural program organized to mark the 50th anniversary and golden jubilee of Phulbari Degree College.
However, Nobel had recently been appearing frequently at various concerts and media events, announcing that he was returning to his normal life. In the meantime, he was arrested on new charges and had to go to jail.
