BCS doctors to boycott duties for two-hours from Saturday
Specials doctors from the BCS health cadre will observe two-hour work abstentions for three days from Saturday demanding proper promotions and fair payments based on promotions.
The movement will continue till Monday, and if their two-point demand is not met by then, the doctors will start observing full-day work boycott indefinitely, they warned in a statement issued Friday.
The work abstentions will be observed 10am-12pm everyday from Saturday to Monday, but the emergency department will be kept operational during the period. The doctors will also hold “passive rallies” in front of their respective government hospitals.
Their two demands are:
1) promoting all the eligible doctors swiftly and removing all inter-cadre discriminations to improve the country’s healthcare services
2) promoting all qualified third-grade doctors to second- and first-grades at fixed intervals and providing appropriate payments.
