Golden jubilee of the independenceTurkish president congratulates PM Hasina

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian and people of Bangladesh on the occasion of golden jubilee of the independence of the the country and “Mujib Borsho”.

The Turkish leader sent a letter to Bangladesh premier on the issue.

Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Dhaka disclosed the information on Friday.

In the letter Erdogan wrote; “On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the independence of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and “Mujib Borsho”, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency and the brotherly people of Bangladesh on behalf of my Nation and myself.

I would like to thank you for your invitation to the “Mujib Borsho” celebrations extended on the occasion of the opening ceremony of your Embassy’s new buildings in Ankara, which was attended by our Honourable Foreign Ministers in September 2020, and through your letter dated 2 November 2020. Unfortunately, it has not been possible for me to accept your invitation because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which continues to affect the entire world. On this occasion, I would like to express my desire to visit Bangladesh in the upcoming period, if circumstances permit.

The sentiment of brotherhood among our peoples, rooted in our common historical and cultural heritage, strengthens our mutual will to further develop our relations. Your esteemed father, the Founding President of Bangladesh late Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has taken his place among the prominent statesmen of the twentieth century with the struggles he went through and the sacrifices he made for his nation throughout his life. I would like to share with you my belief that, in 2021 as the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh is being observed, we will deepen our relations and cooperation, which were strengthened with our joint efforts in 2020 declared as "Mujib Borsho" on the occasion of his 100th birthday, on all areas on the basis of the common interest of our peoples.

I avail myself of this opportunity to renew my best wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the brotherly people of Bangladesh, as well as personal health and happiness of Your Excellency.”
