Govt sets new office timing from 8am to 3pm

The government has fixed new office hours for all government and autonomous institutions from 8:00am to 3:00pm to tackle the ongoing energy crisis.

The decision will come into effect from Wednesday.

The cabinet made the decision at its weekly meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.

According to the new decision, the banks will remain open from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Besides, the cabinet set a two-day weekly holiday for the educational institutions.

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam briefed the reporters about the decision after the meeting at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka.

In the meeting, the cabinet also directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to facilitate irrigation for aman cultivation from midnight to dawn.
