PM visits victims of mayhem at BSMMU, Police Hospital


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday afternoon visited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital at Shahbagh and Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh in the capital to see the injured victims of the recent countrywide mayhem.

She went to the police hospital at 5:00 pm and later visited BSMMU and inquired about the condition of the injured, who are now undergoing treatment in the hospitals after being attacked during the student movement for reformation of quota system in public service.

The premier gave the necessary instructions to the hospital authorities for proper treatment of the victims.

BSMMU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Deen Mohd Noorul Huq and BSMMU Hospital Director Brigadier General Dr Md Rezaur Rahman apprised the PM of the measures taken for treatment of the injured people.

Sheikh Helal, MP, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, PM's Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah, PM's Press Secretary Md Nayeemul Islam Khan and PM's Personal Physician Prof Dr ABM Abdullah, among others, were present at the BSMMU Hospital during the premier’s visit.

Besides, Home Minister Asaduzzzaman Khan, Sheikh Helal MP, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Md Nayeemul Islam Khan, among others, were present at the Central Police Hospital.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday and National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) on Saturday to inspect the violence victims.

She also assured them of proper treatments and wished for their early recovery.

Besides, the prime minister visited the vandalised metro rail station at Mirpur 10 in the capital on Thursday, Bangladesh Television (BTV) Bhaban in Rampura on Friday and violence-ravaged Setu Bhaban and Department of Disaster Management building and toll plaza of the Elevated Expressway at Mohakhali on Saturday.
