Warning issued to stop manipulations using the name of Shama Obayed

Shama Obayed Islam, Member of Parliament for the Faridpur-2 (Nagarkanda–Saltha) constituency and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, has issued a directive to the government offices of the two upazilas to remain vigilant so that no one can take any form of unethical advantage by using her name. A formal warning has been issued on an official letterhead to this effect.

The directive was issued on Friday (March 13). In the notification addressed to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) of Nagarkanda and Saltha, it was stated that since allegations have been received regarding individuals attempting to gain personal favors by using the State Minister's name in various government offices, the concerned authorities are being cautioned. All officers and employees have been urged to remain alert to prevent any such unethical activities.

The letter further mentioned that if any individual seeks recommendations, lobbying, or special advantages using her name, it must be verified seriously and necessary action must be taken. Simultaneously, the relevant departments have been instructed to exercise caution in this regard.

Copies of this warning have also been sent to the heads of administrative, law enforcement, and various service-oriented institutions in Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas. These include the Assistant Commissioner (Land), Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Fisheries Officer, Social Services Officer, Youth Development Officer, Officer-in-Charge (OC), Primary and Secondary Education Officers, LGED Engineer, Public Health Engineer, Election Officer, Project Implementation Officer, Women's Affairs Officer, Food Controller, Ansar and VDP Officer, Fire Service Officer, Postmaster, Sub-Registrar, DGM of Palli Bidyut Samiti, and other officials in charge of various government departments.

Regarding this, Shama Obayed Islam said, "Allegations have been received about people seeking unethical advantages in various places by using my name. Therefore, this warning has been issued to protect the general public from harassment or confusion."

She stated that everyone in the administration has been called upon to perform their duties with transparency and accountability to ensure public service. She also requested the relevant authorities to take immediate action if anyone attempts to gain any favor by exploiting her name.
