Ring leader of human trafficking gang Himu arrested


Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and National Security Intelligence (NSI) in a joint drive arrested three members, including ring leader, of a human trafficking gang that embezzled about Tk 330 million from over 400 fortune seekers.

A team comprising members of RAB and NSI arrested them from Kafrul area in the capital on Wednesday.

They are identified as Sheikh Aminur Rahman Himu, 55, a ring leader, Bablur Rahman, 30, and Nur Alam, 36.

A foreign made pistol and two bullet-loaded magazines were recovered from their possession.

Lt Col Rakibul Hasan, commanding officer of RAB-3, briefed journalists in this regard at his office in the afternoon.

The officer said that they sent the fortune seekers to Brunei through illegal channels and embezzled the money.

On September 10, many victims, who were sent to Brunei through illegal means and returned to the country, demonstrated in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka demanding the arrest of another one named Mehedi Hasan Bijon, who is also involved in trafficking and now at large.
