No shortage of goods during Ramadan: Finance adviser
There will be no shortage of essential goods during the holy month of Ramadan likely to begin on 1 March, assured Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed on Thursday.
The government has put importance on importing oil, rice, lentils and other essential items to ensure smooth supply during the holy month, so there will be no shortage of products at that time, he said.
While talking to reporters at his ministry office in Dhaka this noon, he blamed a section of dishonest traders for creating an artificial crisis in the market to increase prices.
The government has already given orders to the authorities concerned to take stringent measures against the traders for their bad hoarding habits during the month of Ramadan, he said.
Claiming that the interim government wants to reduce the burden on people caused by the sharp rise in commodity prices, he said, “We will take our strong stance this year to keep the market under control.”
