Decision on HSC exams Thursday

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee will hold online meeting on Thursday to decide when Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations can be arranged following health guidelines.

Dhaka Education Board sources said all the education boards’ chairmen will be present in the meeting.

Controller of Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee SM Amirul Islam said, “We have taken all preparations to hold exams maintaining health rules amid coronavirus. We will start examinations if we get permission from the education ministry.”

The HSC and equivalent exams, which were supposed to begin on April 1, were postponed on March 22, two weeks after Bangladesh reported its first three Covid-19 cases.

Earlier on March 16, the government decided to keep all the educational institutions closed from March 17 to 31, aiming to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Later, the Education Ministry extended the time of the closure till October 3 in phases though the Qawmi madrasas were allowed to reopen.
