BD reports 38 more deaths, 1,514 new cases


Bangladesh reported 38 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 11,972. 

During this period, the fatality rate was 1.54%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, 1,514 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the case cout to 7,75,027. 

In the preceding 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 8.99% after testing 16,848 samples in 454 labs across the country. 

Among the latest day's victims, 25 were men, and 13 were women. Of them, 36 died in different hospitals across the country while two at home. 

Moreover, 15 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 11 from Chattogram, six from Rajshahi, three from Sylhet, two from Barishal and one Ranpur division.

Also, 2,115 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 91.90% recovery rate.

The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 8,678 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,294 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

India's tally of cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has reached 22,662,575 as data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) showed on Monday morning that 366,161 more cases were detected from across the country in the previous 24 hours. 

Also, in the preceding 24 hours, 3,754 more people succumbed to the viral disease, taking the related death toll to 246,116, reports Hindustan Times.

Covid-19 has claimed 3,307,536 lives worldwide and infected 158,992,708 so far, according to the data provided by Worldometer.
