Two new coronavirus-infected patients have been detected in Bangladesh, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said at a press briefing on Saturday night.

One of the patients recently returned from Italy while the other person came back from Germany.

The patients called the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) hotline once they showed symptoms of the disease. Later, both of them tested positive in medical tests conducted by the IEDCR.

Bangladesh reported its first cases of coronavirus on March 8, but all three of them later recovered.

"None of the three infected patients were found positive for the novel coronavirus after tests," said IEDCR Director Dr. Meerjady Sabrina Flora.

"One of them has been discharged from the hospital while two others are still under observation," she added.

The death toll from coronavirus reached 5,436 globally as of Saturday. Besides, 145,810 cases were reported from around the world.
