Subarna Express resumes operation today following govt instruction

The Subarna Express train, which runs on the Dhaka-Chattogram-Dhaka route, resumed its operation today following the government instruction of allocating 50 percent of the total seats for passengers.

Ratan Kumar Chowdhury, manager of Chattogram Railway Station, said, "The Subarna Express left Chattogram for Dhaka at 7am today with 387 passengers. 454 seats, which are 50 percent of the total seats of the train, were allotted for passengers."

Ansar Ali, divisional commercial officer for Eastern Railway, said, "There were instructions to sell 50 percent or half of the train's tickets to prevent coronavirus infection. So, 454 seats have been allotted in Subarna Express train."

He said 85 percent of the allotted seats' tickets were sold.

"292 seats have been allotted in Sonar Bangla Express, which will leave for Dhaka at 5pm today, and 298 seats in Sylhet-bound Udayan Express, scheduled to leave the station at night," added Ansar Ali.

The station manager said the health check of the loco master (driver), guard and other employees of Subarna Express had been done before operating the train.

Disinfectant had been sprayed on the train and platforms, he said. Wearing a mask was mandatory. The body temperature of each passenger had been measured before boarding the train. The station authorities provided masks to those who did not bring masks.

Several passengers of the Subarna Express said the environment at the train station was different than before. There was no rush to get on the train. Everyone was following the health rules. They demanded to continue this management.
