Summit's LNG terminal resumes production after 3 months

Summit's floating LNG terminal has resumed operation after nearly three and a half months of being out of service.

The restoration has led a notable increase in gas availability nationwide.

The country's electricity demand has dropped by nearly 4,000 MW over the past three days to 10,000 MW due to the depression in the north-west of the Bay of Bengal and heavy rainfall.

This decrease in demand has prevented load shedding despite the ongoing gas shortage.

Petrobangla Chairman Zanendra Nath Sarker said on Sunday that Summit's floating LNG terminal has been repaired, and gas supply resumed at 50 million cubic feet per day for the past two days.

"The problem can be considered resolve, " he added.
