DSE, CSE close in red again


Stock markets yesterday finished the session of the week in red again due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities with lower transactions.

 

The falling major sectors were ceramics, food and allied, textile, engineering and insurance. A total of 153 securities of large cap group moved down due to lower activities.

The premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) registered fall in all indexes. The main index, DSEX declined by 40.97 points and stood at 4,888.02 while the shariah index, DSES dropped by 16.34 points at 1,130.63 and the blue chips, DS30 index fell by 15.96 points and stood at 1,735.86.

The daily trade fell to 9.77 crore shares from Tuesday’s 10.44 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 371.53 crore from Taka 435.56 crore of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 352 securities, prices of 97 securities closed higher against 214 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Global Insurance, Provati Insurance, Sino Bangla, Republic and National Life Insurance.

The major losing companies were Monno Ceramics, Shyampur Sugar Mills, Al Haj Textile, Monno Stafflers and Green Delta.

National Tubes topped the turnover list followed by Monno Stafflers, Square Pharma, Sino Bangla and Legacy Foot.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with a downward trend with its major CASPI 102.05 points down at 14,848.23.

At CSE, 249 issues were traded. Of those, 67 closed higher and 162 closed lower when 90.29 lakh shares worth Taka 35.65 crore changed hands.
