icddr,b gets first Bangladeshi ED

icddr,b has appointed Dr Tahmid Ahmed as the first Bangladeshi executive director (ED), says media report.  

icddr,b’s International Board of Trustees appointed Dr Tahmid Ahmed.

He will replace Prof Clemens, who has been in charge since 2013.

Dr Tahmid will take charge as an ED on February 1, 2021. 

Regarding his new appointment, Dr Tahmid said he will give top priority on coronavirus or Covid-19 research.
