18 kg of gold recovered from airplane toilet

Aviation Security (AVSEC) and intelligence officials seized 153 gold bars weighing approximately 18 kg (17.901 kg) from a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-348) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (March 28) night.

Acting on a tip-off, authorities monitored the flight arriving from Dubai and discovered the gold hidden inside a toilet panel in the cargo compartment. The seized gold, with an estimated market value of 38 crore BDT, has been handed over to airport customs.

While a case is being processed at the airport police station, no arrests have been made so far as investigations continue.
