Indonesia shook with a 5.8 magnitude earthquake
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck North Sumatra, Indonesia, in the early hours of Sunday, April 19, 2026.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the tremor occurred at 3:06 AM local time at a shallow depth of approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles).
The epicenter was located at 1.29 degrees North latitude and 97.21 degrees East longitude.
Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage following the quake.
