The armed forces do not belong to any specific individual or party: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, while addressing the Armed Forces personnel at Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday, April 12, 2026, emphasized that the military is a national institution dedicated to protecting state sovereignty, rather than a personal or political asset.

He condemned past attempts to weaken and politicize the army, specifically citing the Pilkhana massacre as a profound loss to the force. Praising the army’s professional conduct during the events of August 5, 2024, and the 13th National Parliament Election, the Prime Minister highlighted the legacy of late President Ziaur Rahman in modernizing the force and noted its international prestige in UN Peacekeeping.

Reaffirming his commitment to the "July Charter," he vowed to implement comprehensive state reforms to build a unified and unconquerable Bangladesh.
