The government wants to capitalize on the potential of the food processing industry: Minister of Industry

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir visited the new BSCIC Industrial City in Thakurgaon, announcing that the project aims to create jobs for approximately 25,000 people.

He emphasized transforming the region into a hub for agricultural and food processing industries, highlighting the success of locally produced mozzarella cheese and tea already being exported internationally.

The Minister shared plans for "contract farming" to produce specialized potatoes for export-quality chips and flakes.

Spanning 50 acres with 251 plots, the industrial park is designed to turn the local population into a skilled workforce and attract significant private investment, replicating the success of the existing Thakurgaon EPZ.
