Zaima campaigns for Tarique in Dhaka-17

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s daughter Zaima Rahman took part in an election campaign on his behalf in the Dhaka-17 constituency on Saturday.

The campaign began around noon from the Police Plaza area in Gulshan, during which Zaima toured various roads in Gulshan, seeking votes for the BNP’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy.

During the campaign, she interacted with pedestrians, rickshaw and CNG drivers, shopkeepers, street vendors and shoppers, distributing election leaflets and requesting their support.

She also entered several offices and banks in the area, including a private bank, where she spoke to voters and sought votes for her father.

Introducing herself to voters, Zaima said, “I am Zaima Rahman, daughter of Tarique Rahman. My father is the BNP candidate in Dhaka-17. I seek your votes for him.”

She was also seen distributing environmentally friendly seed packets, saying the initiative aimed to reduce election waste and promote environmental protection, as the seeds would grow into plants if planted in soil or pots.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s caregiver, Fatema Khatun, was present during the campaign.

Although security personnel accompanied her, Zaima directly engaged with the public throughout the campaign.

The campaign, which continued from Police Plaza to Gulshan-1 Circle, drew crowds of curious onlookers, many of whom took photographs with her.

Tarique is contesting the upcoming national parliamentary election in Dhaka-17 with the BNP’s sheaf of paddy symbol.
